Ex-FBI Agent Gets 40 Years for 1982 Mob Killing

In Miami, Flordia John Connolly, a former FBI agent was sentanced to 40 years in prison for the 1982 mobb-related killing of a Miami gambling executive. The judge sentenced him after the defence made the argument that "a four year statute of limitaions had expired." Connolly was conviced of second degree murder in the killing of John Callahan. Because this arguement was leagally correct and appeal is expected.

Connolly provided Boston mobsters with information leading them to the murder of Callahan when he gave his trial testomony, Showing no emotion. He currently is serving a 10 year sentance for corrupt dealings with Boston's Winter Hill Gange. The judge decided that this new sentance will begin when the 10 year sentance ends in 2011.

Callahan was shot to death by a mob hit man. The hit man confessed to the killings and the cictoms body was placed in the trunk of his Cadillac. Where the body was discovered several days later at the Miami International Airport parking lot.

By dealing with the mobsters, they would often give him tips for high profile FBI take downs. He clames the all FBI officers have to work with shady criminals and that he would never knowingly do harm to anyone.

I think its a really sad thing when FBI agents, and Police officers become the crimals to high profile crimes such as giving information to mobsters to help with killings. There are some "crimes" that most people take part in, such as jay walking, or speeding. But Killing goes against everything society, school, and religions teach children growing up and killing is something that just isnt exceptable. By what he has done it brings a bad image to "the badge". Police officers and FBI agents use their badge as something that is respectable, and when this one agent uses the badge distastefully it can bring shame upon others. But the beauty of this is, justice is being served.

Cockpit Items Led Cops to Missing Financier

In Quincy, Flordia, a road atlas and a campground directory was found in the cockpit of an airplain of an Indiana financial manager. It helped lead authoirites to a campsite in Northern Flordia . They found him there and eventually arrested him.

In Marcus Schrenker's cockpit of his crashed plane investigators found a 50 state road atless with only two pages removed. Alabama and Flordia. With that there was also national campground directory. In that directory two states were removed, Alabama and Flordia.

U.S. marshals found him in a tend at a Flordia campgroumd on Tuesday night and was arrested. He had self inflicted gashes on his wrists muttering the word "die." This was his attempt to stage his own death by parachuting from his plane. He fled on a motorcycle that was then stashed in Alabama.

After his suicide attempt he was placed in a heavily garded hospital room and is expected to appear in court in Flordia before returning home to Indiana. In his home state he faces bancrupcy and divorce that he was facing before his flight. He was charged with intentionally wrecking an aircraft, and faking a distressed call. The call that was made tor the costly search and rescue he may have to pay for 5,100 dollars of the costs. He also is facing a law suit for stealing "millions".

Its always nice to see when a fugitive is caught. This man lived a lugerious life style by scamming investers. when he found out that he was going to get caught and his plan decided to go down the drain, instead of standing up and being honest about his mistakes and lies that he has done. He chose to find an easier way. He staged his own death. Ruined a plane. Had a search party sent out for him after a frantic call from the airplane. And a suicide attempt, he finally is in custody of the police and will have to pay his time.

'Man Shot My Mommy'

Near Dayton Ohio a young boy, only 4 years in age, explained to Judith and Michael McConnell, at a rest stop that a man entured his home and shot his mother. He was in his pajamas and bairfoot. He was alone at the rest stop and explained that the intruder left him there. The McConnells took the boy into their car to warm up as they called the poice. they explained "He's been abandoned here by a man with a gun. He's quite disturbed." While waiting for the police to arrive he said the information that is drilled into children for emergancies. His address, his parents names, and his phone number.

When the police arrived at the boys house they found his monther dead. She was shot to death.
The Police determined that she struggled with the attacker. The man they arrested, Charlie Myers, has confessed to the crimes. The death penalty may be considered.

A week before Christmas the 4 year olds family car was stolen from a concert. Using the information in the car led the killer directly to their home.

The killer has said that he made a mistake and only wanted the families "stuff". But Charlie has grown up with a toubled past. when he was only 4 years old his mother died of a drug related heart attack. Living in homeless shelters with his father, who was very abusive. By age 7 he was smoking marijuana, at age 8 he was drinking, and my age 11 he attempted suicide. At age 17 he began his life of stealing by breaking into empty houses of naighbors and stealing valuables.

This event will be emotionally tramatizing to the 4 year old kid left abandoned. This story also shows how things effect people in their life. Myers could have been a normal kid, if he had the oppertunity. By losing his mother at such a young age, and being abused by his father with no place to call home. Myers was left wtih little hope. Theres no wonder why he is the way he is, growing up with such a troubled lifestyle effects people. Although his life growing up should not be used as an excuse for the murder he has done, it deffinately helps explain why things have happened.

Teen Charged With Four Killings In Rochester

A young high school drop out, only 17 years old in age killed four people over the winter holidays. They were stapped, shot and bludgeoned. Three of the victims were in a jewelry merchant's home. Jaquan Clark, riding in a passanger in a vehicle, was found with a loaded .357 - caliber Magnum. He was chraged with four counts of second-degree murder. His fingerprints matched the fingerprints found at the murder sight of the three victims that were killed on December 26th. The bodies of those three victims were found near his brothers home the next day.

The 17 year old suspect was also accused of killing a 37 year old on the sidewalk in a Rochester neighborhood. he was shot and collapsed in a driveway that was nearby and found the next morning.

The police tried to determine a reason behind the murders, a motive. Why were these 4 victims targeted? But no motive was reached. The only answer was that it was a "cold-blooded murders".

I can't even begin to understand why a 17 year old would do this. What may have happened to him thoughout his life to drive him to do these horrific crimes? The mayor of the town, and a formor police said, "I cant get out of my mind why a 17 year old was involved in four cold blooded murders." To me, its very evident that the child has grown up in a rough life. He chose to drop out of school in the 10th grade. Being a high schooler, and a 17 year old, i feel that i should maybe be able to relate, but i will never be able to understand what could cause a person to do this. Expecially at such a young age.

Homicide Rates Decreasing

In Milwaukee, Wisconinsin the murder rates have decreased by nearly a third in the past year. Miwaukee is now one of the nations best with thier newly lowered murder rate. Although some US cities murder rates increased such as in New York and Chicago. Some of the other cities such as Detroit, Cleveland, Baltimore, Philadelphia and Los Angeles had fewer violent crimes this year than what they have had the previous year.

A recent study done by Northeastern University showed that African American teenagers murdering eachother is rising, Milwaukee rates show something different. In Milwaukee the number of African American men that range from the ages 15 to 29 has decreased nearly 2/3. In 2007 they had 54 deaths, last year they only had 19.

Homicide rates also dropped from 105 to 71 in the past year, decreasing 32 percent. This is the lowest number theyve had since 1985. Gun deaths have also decreassed. Milwaukee police union president gives credit to Police chief Edward Flynn to the decrease in murders. he has assigned officers to patrol the city by foot, and handle lower priority complaints by phone. He has brought many suprises to Milwaukee, but these suprises are welcomed.

Nationwide crime statics seem to be lowering. Detroit had a 13% drop in slayings, Philadelphia had 15% drop in murders, and Baltimore had 17% less homicides, Cleveland had 24% drop in homicides but none of the cities are celebrating these decreases. they are still disapointed in the numbers of deaths. Mayor franklin Jackson from Cleveland said, "If one person gets killed, its a problem. These are not just statistics. Somebody cared about these people."

I think that it is important that many of the police forces in larger cities are brainstorming for new was to try to lower the death rates, because like Jackson said, everyone's life matters. It is awesome that the rates in some cities have decreased up to 2/3, but its a good thing that the police forces aren't celebrating. Its a terrific accomplishment, but people are still dying. But they are working their best to secure everyones safety.
