a singer, Jack Ely sang "Louie Louie" in 1963 and it is still played on the radio but his wife and him only share $30,000 a year. Thats the money from social security checks. But whenever he hears the song he thinks about how hes not getting paid for his hard work. The only things that he got from his hard work was $5000 shortly after he recorded it and then went off to war.
The writer of the song has mad roughly $100,000 every year from it being played on the radio. But now days the music industry has been making less and less money every year. but it thinks it can handle this tough time.
The radio industry makes money off of royalties which are made from commericals. but because of the struggleing economy less people are being able to manage their radio business. It looks like they will pull through it but the problem Ely has is everyones getting money from his song, except him.
I dont think its fair for the singer to not get any money from his song. he worked hard on it. and it is right that the writer of the song gets money from the song he wrote but if the writer gets $100,000 a year, and Ely only got $5,000 for the song in the past years the writer has made millions and Ely only $5000. Ely needs to have his rights protected. He sang the song, and it was well liked. He deserves to have a chunk of the change that his song is pulling in.

International Trade:Globalization and It's Discontents
As technology increases the access to many supplies increase. Many important industries are becoming multinational. By having many underdeveloped countrys have factories then it will help strengthen other countries economies. But through globablization there could me many downfalls. In order to prevent those events from happening we have regulations to protect the underdogs. Some of the agencies are the World Bank, General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, and the World Trade Organization. These organizations help protect everyone from getting taken advantage of. Due to some of the poor nations they may have young children working extreme hours instead of getting an education. The companies may be paying the children and other workers next to nothing. Because of the underdeveloped nations have such a poor economy many of the goods that are produced are much cheaper than if they were produced in the country that is consuming the goods. By globalization it can help, or destroy a country.
The agencies protect and support globalization, carefully monitor all the regulations. they watch and manage inflation, open markets, remove government controll when necissary, and privitize state run enterprises. But these policies havent been able to be efficetive in all developing countries which may create doubt in individuals of the effectiveness in
Globalization. Many people fear that golobalization only helps the rich, and not the poor because the rich continue to make money, and the poor are payed at sub-minimum wage in underdeveloped countries. Which may only put the poor into over worked and barely paid. Milton Friedman supports the freemarket and there fore would not support globalization because he believes in monetary policy. Monetary policy leaves the government out of the economy and allows the people to make the choices. He would also like to keep everything contained within the country. So the US would rely on goods the US produces so instead of sending money overseas it would just be recycled back into the US ecomony. It would not have other countrys interfereing with our economy and will be separated. Each country will effect its own economy, and therefore would not be relying on other for the countries sucess. Government would be kept out of business, and people will make the choices with the economy. People will be able to create new bussinesses with the free market. If those businesses become sucessful the business owners will support monetary policy because they will want to keep the money they are taking in instead of feeding it to the government.
The free market is what America prides its self on. Many of our ancestors came to the United States for freedom, for opertunity, for prosperity. With the free market more people would be williing to go into business to make more money for themselfs. They will hire workers to work for them, and the works will be productive. In a free market people have insentive to work. If the jobs are contained in the United States then there will be more job oppertunities for us when we get out of school. The majority of us are going to further our education beyond high school and we want to have jobs after we are done with our education. If all the jobs are overseas we won't have a place to work. Without having a job, we can't survive. Idealistically, many people would like to not have to work, but realistically it would not make a good lifestyle. Many of us have grown up in a family that money hasnt been much of an issue. We had a roof over our head, food on the table, and clothes on our back. This is not a lifestyle many of us would want to give up, so in order to keep up our lifestyle we need jobs. Jobs in the United States, and not over seas.

Deportation Rips Apart American Dream For Romanian Immigrant's Family
The American dream sent foreigners racing to the United States many years ago, but still today the American dream continues to exist. For one immigrant Tiberiu Canaiman his dream has been crushed. he was deported back to his native country. When he first came here on a 60 day visa he had hopes of a better life, when his time was getting close to running out he filed for a work permit, and continued to apply for extentions. He was an active member in the economy he worked, owned property, and paid taxes but despite all of this he was still deported. The money that he and his wife made while working went towards paying the bills--housing, taxes, needs and wants. Using stores to buy clothing and food supporting and helping businesses, both small and big. They paid income tax, property tax, sales tax, social security, and any other tax that is required for Americans to pay. Tiberiu Canaiman is like every imagrant. He wanted a better life, and he came here to recieve one for him and his family. He is not the only imagrant that has gotten exported, nor will he be the last.
I think that sometimes the government has a tendancy to create too much regulation. When it comes to imigrants that came here legally, although they did not have all the paperwork filled out correctly and up to date, they are being an active member in the society, and economy. They were making money, working in the economy, spending money, paying taxes, and participating in all of the things that Americans participate in. Coming here with nothing, and creating something out of himself, which is more than what many Americans do. Many Americans are jobless, homeless, and living off of the government. The money they recieve comes from tax dollars other Americans are paying. Even some non-americans like Tiberiu Caniman who was deported for a pointless reason. In order to protect himself, he has spent thousands of dollars with lawyers. He spent, and balanced his budget probably better than the vast majority of americans. When there are some people like this guy here hes doing more for our country than most people who were born here. some of the immigrants, that are here in the United States who are trying to better themself and their family, and are actually reaching their goal they should be allowed to stay here. the government should be allowed to twist and bend some of the rules and regulations that are set for good hearted working men and women who are doing nothing wrong here, except for the amount of time they stayed.

Who's to Blame?
Mortgage Brokers:
In order for the Mortgage Brokers to make money they have to sell loans. The more the loans are worth, the more money they make on commision. When the loans go bad, and the person recieving the loan is unable to pay the loan in a reasonable amount of time the more money the broker will make. Unfortunately, because the broker will make more money through bad loans the broker will be willing to give out loans to freely for their own benefit. Many brokers were willing to give out more loans and people over borrowed because of the low-cost rates. They planned to refinance as soon as the loan became unmanageable to pay.

One person considered to be responsible for the current economic condition we are in occording to Time Magazine is John Devaney. He said that "The consumer has to be an idiot to take on one of those loans, bit it has been one of out best-performing investments." He and other hedge fund managers encouraged brokers to continue handing out unreasonable and questionable loans because the brokers would make money. Buying the morgage bonds, allowed brokers to continute making unwise choices. He was willing to buy these bonds because he would make a large profit from the intrerest that will be given on the bond. The loans that were given that he was purchasing bonds from were bad for consumers. He had $600 million set aside to buying risky loans. Which only continued to encorage and support the bad choices made from the brokers.
Home owners felt that they should trust the mortgage brokers when they are offered one of the good deals. Because of mortgage brokers that mislead their customers the constomers are now blaming the mortgage companies. Companies would trage mortgages like commodies in the market in places such as wall street. The brokers would willingly and freely give out loans just to make some money. When the economy was booming people were willing to buy and spend more money than what they had to fulfill their dreams. But as soon as money started to tighten those loans began to dry up causine the recession.

Jamaican Journalist Understands Stanford Now
H.G. Helps was once employed by a Jamaican newspaper, Antigua Sun, which was owned and run by R. Allen Stanford, a Texas billionare. Helps lost his job in 1999. To Helps Stanfored always seemed a bit strange, at a company meeting he put Helps on paid leave, Helps was often times confused why this man was paying him to do nothing. Stanford had different motives, he was schemeing people out of money and he had hopes and asperations to become royalty. He made it to night hood in 2006, but as the economy turned on this new downturn many men like Stanford become appearent.
When people scam other peoples money, and the economies good theres enough money to toss back and forth, but now, theres less, and people are less willing to fund things. Standford had asperations to be royalty, and he tempararly bought his way in with disapproval from most of the people.
I think that it is a good thing that people such as stanford are being brought out in their wrong doing. He was a manipulative man, that had many frowing upon his actions. As a leader of a country, which he was trying to become, he should be able to relate to the people, and do whats best along with representing the country. where as stanford was not interested in taking part in any of those activities, he was only concerned with himself.

Jobless Rate Hits 7.6%; 598,000 Positions Lost in January
In January alone there was nearly 600,000 jobs lost. Because of the poor economic status of our nation many small businesses have been forced to cut jobs. Those job cuts have been visable in the unemployment rate. In December it was 7.2 percent and by January the nations unemployment jumped to 7.6 percent. In the past year the government estimates that 3.5 million jobs have been lost. The worst part is, nearly half of them have been in the past 3 months.
I think that the condition of our economy is much worse than many of us would have imagined. Being a young teenager I never truely understood the worth of the dollar. Now that i have aged it has become more apparent. Right now in my life, I dont think i truely realize it yet. While Im under my parents roof I have their finances to rely on. But in the next years to come, when I am out on my own, as a poor college student, I think that the worth and the situation we are in will hit me like a brick wall.
I hope by the time that I am in college the things Obama has talked about doing with our economy such as his stimulation plan, I hope it will work. It may not be a quick fix, but hopefully it will benefit us a little.

Ex-FBI Agent Gets 40 Years for 1982 Mob Killing
In Miami, Flordia John Connolly, a former FBI agent was sentanced to 40 years in prison for the 1982 mobb-related killing of a Miami gambling executive. The judge sentenced him after the defence made the argument that "a four year statute of limitaions had expired." Connolly was conviced of second degree murder in the killing of John Callahan. Because this arguement was leagally correct and appeal is expected.
Connolly provided Boston mobsters with information leading them to the murder of Callahan when he gave his trial testomony, Showing no emotion. He currently is serving a 10 year sentance for corrupt dealings with Boston's Winter Hill Gange. The judge decided that this new sentance will begin when the 10 year sentance ends in 2011.
Callahan was shot to death by a mob hit man. The hit man confessed to the killings and the cictoms body was placed in the trunk of his Cadillac. Where the body was discovered several days later at the Miami International Airport parking lot.
By dealing with the mobsters, they would often give him tips for high profile FBI take downs. He clames the all FBI officers have to work with shady criminals and that he would never knowingly do harm to anyone.
I think its a really sad thing when FBI agents, and Police officers become the crimals to high profile crimes such as giving information to mobsters to help with killings. There are some "crimes" that most people take part in, such as jay walking, or speeding. But Killing goes against everything society, school, and religions teach children growing up and killing is something that just isnt exceptable. By what he has done it brings a bad image to "the badge". Police officers and FBI agents use their badge as something that is respectable, and when this one agent uses the badge distastefully it can bring shame upon others. But the beauty of this is, justice is being served.
